We observe Pride during the entire month of June in honor of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City that are considered a tipping point for LGBT equality in the U.S.
More recently characterized by mile-long parades, lively celebrations, and the ubiquitous rainbow flag, annual LGBT Pride celebrations have evolved significantly over time. Originally somber affairs, Pride is now an outright celebration of the LGBT community.
Even during the recent tragedy at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, we continue to mourn those who were lost, and we remain committed to honoring Pride Month, which celebrates new generations embracing LGBT citizens and the LGBT community’s hard-fought struggle for equal rights.We welcome EVERYONE to join us and recognize the impact lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people — and their allies — have had on history throughout the world.
